Acupuncture for Seasonal Allergies in Richmond Hill

Book Now

When allergy season arrives, the sneezing, runny nose, and blocked sinuses can make weeks of the year miserable. Acupuncture is increasingly used as a complementary way to take the edge off those symptoms.

What the evidence shows

There is moderate evidence that acupuncture can help reduce nasal symptoms such as a runny nose and sneezing, and improve quality of life, when it is used as a complementary adjunct alongside antihistamines and your usual allergy care.

An important note if you have asthma

If you have asthma alongside your allergies, it must be medically stable and managed by your physician before treating nasal allergy symptoms with acupuncture. Acupuncture is not a treatment for asthma and does not replace your inhalers or rescue medication.

What to expect

Your first visit assesses your symptoms, your triggers, and your history. Treatment is often most useful as a short course timed with your allergy season, reassessed as you go. Patients come to us from across Richmond Hill, Markham, and North York.

Cost and coverage

A first visit is a 75 minute initial treatment at $150, with 60 minute standard treatments at $125 after that. Acupuncture from a registered acupuncturist is not covered by OHIP, but to claim under your plan's acupuncture benefit, most insurers require a CTCMPAO-registered R.Ac or R.TCMP, as all of ours are. We direct bill most major insurers through TELUS Health eClaims, so where your plan allows it, you pay only your share at the visit.
